Originally named White Cliff because of the colour of the rocks found along the coastline of the Park, the spelling was changed in 1914 when Colonel Albert Whyte pressured local authorities to change it to match his surname.

The area of Whytecliff in West Vancouver is relatively small but has plenty to offer. It is a peaceful community that is slightly off the beaten path but relatively close to the shops and restaurants of Horseshoe Bay.

The main attraction in the area is Whytecliff Park. It’s situated on the rugged coastline along the shores of Howe Sound. The scenic mountains and passing boats offer spectacular views for all visitors to enjoy. The park includes a series of hiking trails as well as  swimming beaches and family picnic and play areas. Whytecliff Park is also famous for its world class scuba diving.
