Take a look as President Darcy McLeod addresses concerns surrounding assignment agreements.

Our profession has been under the media’s spotlight for the last two weeks. That's when a newspaper article alleged that some REALTORS® are failing to disclose their interests and involvement in assignments.

This issue has triggered an emotional response from the public and members. There’s a lot of misinformation and speculation appearing in traditional and social media right now.

We’re representing your voice in the media and working hard to ensure that our profession receives fair and accurate coverage.

Working with our communication team, we’ve been talking with reporters daily. We've conducted dozens of interviews on this issue since the story broke.

We want the public to know that:

  • the real estate profession has high ethical standards in place to protect the public;
  • complaints against Realtors are extremely rare; and
  • assignments are a legal and regulated practice in B.C.

The Real Estate Council of BC has formed an advisory group to investigate the allegations raised in the newspaper article.

It’s important to note that if the Council finds wrongdoing on the part of a member, our Professional Conduct Committee will investigate to determine what additional disciplinary action is required.
